The power of religion is important in providing people with a sense of focus and purpose. No matter the religion practiced, the importance still matters. There are only a small number of well known world religions, but a vast number of lesser known practices.

There are numerous religions without specific names, but with fundamental ideas. Tribal religions, Animism, and Shamanism have been around since before history was written down. The religions or religious ideas are similar in nature. The religions tend to believe animate and inanimate objects are filled with an essence and are aware to a certain degree. The soul can be found in humans and objects in nature as well.

The followers of the Sikhism religion attempt to develop a strong relationship with God. The believers of Sikhism do not believe in a caste system as every person is equal according to God. Reincarnation is also a belief of Sikhism.

The religion of Confucianism has a primary goal of social harmony for every believer. People practicing the religion know the place in society and within the family as relationships are important. Followers of Confucianism share values of righteousness, compassion for every person, honesty, etiquette, and loyalty.

The religion of Zoroastrianism has been around longer than even the well known world religions. The foundations of Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim religions can find the basis within Zoroastrianism. Followers believe in Ahura Mazda, the supreme and only God. There is cosmic dualism of Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu, the evil spirit.

The religion of Taoism believes in Tao being the force of life and the essence of the universe. There are no gods, but meditation to reflect individually and review the outside world. Vitality is important and Tai Chi provides a healthy method for the followers of the religion. The belief in wu wei, allowing nature to take proper course, is important. Kindness and compassion are integral to the followers.

The religion of Shinto follows the rules of Confucianism and belief in benign gods, Kami. The creation stories tell of the Kami, the protectors of the people. Humans and life are sacred as is the desire for peace. Ancestors are worshipped.

For additional details on the lesser known religions of the world, read Transcendence by Navin Doshi or review www.NavinDoshi.com

Order Transcendence by Navin Doshi

Price of Transcendence $20.00 US

Questions?
E-Mail to Ithaca Press
books@ithacapress.com
(607) 273-2870

<div align="center""> Copyright © 2009-2010 Ithaca Press.
